Rona's currently appearing in the ensemble of Nine, which has been received really well. If you're in the NYC area, go see this musical! Buy tickets here.

So, Rona is way into the rocking out part of things. Her band, Quasilulu, just got their website up and I think they'll be hopping into the studio, which is cool, fool. So, does that mean this website is going to become obsolete? No, no, never. This website is a labor of geek love, you realize, and it'll be around until someone kicks me off. OK. Are you ready for the Coolest Thing Ever?

So there's a slight chance "The Chang Family Saves the World" will be picked up as a mid-season replacement by ABC (hereafter known as the Abhorrently Brutal Company). If it is, I'll recap the episodes for the site, so those of you who aren't in the US and may not get the Abhorrently Brutal Company can know what goes on. If you want to write to the Abhorrently Brutal Company and tell them to put on "The Chang Family" or else, here's the address:
500 S. Buena Vista Street
Burbank, CA 91521-4551
And don't knock letter-writing campaigns. That's how Newsies got put out on DVD. In less abhorrent and/or brutal news, I'm going to be in Oregon from July 8th to the 19th. I'm having my wisdom teeth out on the 21st as well, so that week's shot to hell. So, basically, expecteth not of the updateth until August. But I'll try to do some minor things this weekend.

Um, well....I'm not dead. Rona's definitely not dead. I've just been mad busy, but finals finish this week and then I'll be good to go. Rona recently shot a TV pilot that sounds both fun and original-- a normal family suddenly thrown into a kung-fu-fighting world. It's called "The Chang Family Saves the World". Rona plays a tough-talking teenager who kicks the collective ass out of both math and martial arts, but I'm thinking not at the same time. Hey, I'm always up for a little Rona kung fu. And I'm sure Rona shot the hell out of the pilot, as is per the usual. Sadly, the networks have shown an unusual level of stupidity and not picked it up. Grumble. I don't think network executives should get to complain about ratings when they make all their lineup decisions while on crack. I've really just decided with this--ABC can go to hell. First they cancel Sports Night, and then they subject me to Regis Philbin asking "Is that your final answer?" every damn time I turn on the TV, and now they've done this. Man. In happier news, Rona recently did her own one-woman show. She wrote the lyrics and music herself, which impresses the hell out of me, seeing as how she was also running around shooting this pilot. She's just a whirling dervish of overachievement, much as I am a whirling dervish of bad metaphors.

Rona finished her very successful run as Kim with a flourish, and gained a few more raving reviews to stick under her belt in the process. You can, as always, find them here. She's going back into the Broadway ensemble of Les MisÚrables for a while, so you can catch her there if you live in the NY area.

Our lovely Miss Figueroa and her family were fine during the recent tragedy. She is currently out of NY (which makes me breathe a little easier, seeing as how I am feeling the compulsion to keep tabs on all my NY friends and family ALL THE TIME) doing Miss Saigon with a local theater company. She stars as Kim with the excellent Kevin Gray as the Engineer. You can hear Kevin on the complete symphonic recording of the show. She says it's a lot of fun, and apparently the theater is near Salem, Massachusetts. OOOH......Salem....Halloween....bleh. I was going to make a joke there but I'm totally off my game. Anyway, if you live in NY and are able to, go see something--anything. Us theater geeks need to keep our Broadway alive.

Rona has been busy this summer in a Shakespeare workshop, which has run, I think, 6 days a week from 9 AM to 6 PM. In addition, she continues to gallantly cover for the Broadway Les Mis cast--their current Eponine popped a kneecap during "Lovely Ladies" and Rona might have the chance to go on for her. Fingers crossed!
December 2nd, 2000
Rona is part of an interview for Filipinas magazine about her experience playing Kim in Miss Saigon. I've taken her individual statements out and put them in the opinions section. Man, this site is so illegal it's not even funny.
November 30th, 2000
Rona, along with other Saigon actors/actresses, is in a benefit concert called Giving Voice. One of the other participants is also a former Kim, Joan Almedilla.
November 12th, 2000
Theory has evidently lost a member. Rona seems to no longer be a part of the group. I've used the address provided on their official site to try and contact them, but to no avail.
November 4th, 2000
Rona is leaving the ensemble of Les Mis. She was there as a special-circumstances cover. Dana Meller will be returning on November 21st.
October 4th, 2000
Rona appears in a Miss Saigon benefit concert to be held in Manhattan on the 8th. I don't have a lot more information on this, just that it's comprised of present and past Saigonners. Saigonners. Is that even a word?
September 1st, 2000
Rona is part of an R&B/Pop group now called Theory. Um. I don't know how I feel about this. Go to their official site.
August 31st, 2000
Rona is taking over Catherine Brunell's ensemble spot and she will be understudying Eponine in the Broadway production of Les MisÚrables for a limited engagement.
